What IS Hemp?

Hemp is an ancient plant has been cultivated as early as 2800 bce for its infinite uses. Certain strains of hemp can be grown for fiber, seeds, oil, and even fuel for cars! CBD Hemp is a specific type of the hemp plant that is grown specifically for production of CBD. The 2018 Farm Bill legalized the cultivation of hemp across the U.S. and allowed for the transfer of hemp-derived products across state lines.

Q: Is it Marijuana?
A: No.

• Hemp and Marijuana come from the same plant family, but are vastly different in its function, cultivation, and application.
• By definition, hemp cannot contain more than 0.3% of delta-9 THC, the active compound in marijuana that contains psychoactive properties - the part that gets you "high."
• ​This federal requirement limits CBD Hemp to the negligible amount of <0.3% delta-9 THC, which makes hemp so different from marijuana. Due to this limit, smoking CBD hemp flowers cannot get you high.
