Pork Share Deposit
What is a share?
A pork “share” is the share of a whole pig that is butchered. We sell Quarter Shares (1/4), Half Shares (1/2), and Full Shares (whole pig). Though the term “share” means a portion of one pig, the farmers at Sol Mountain Farm assemble the pork shares based upon cut variety and pound. The final share contains a certain dollar amount of pork and comes to a 10% discount compared to purchasing each cut at full retail market price.
How many lbs of pork do I get and what is the price?
- $100 box: ~12-15 lbs of meat
- Quarter Share: ~30-35 lbs of meat- $250
- Half Share: ~65-70 lbs of meat- $450
- Full Share: ~135-140- $900
What kind of cuts are in a share?
Each pork share includes all the variety of cuts and pork products we get processed. We can customize the boxes up to a certain point, depending on availability (preference on more cuts, exclude bacon or other items, etc). Cuts include a variety of: chops (loin, sirloin, rib), steaks (shoulder, fresh ham), summer sausage, tasso ham, bacon, hocks & shanks, and ground products (fresh ground pork, bratwurst, breakfast sausage). Each share or box is assorted to order and total lbs may vary due to the differing price per type of cut (for example, ground pork is $6/lbs and chops are $9/lbs retail).
When will I get my share?
We generally have a waitlist of pork share customers, and our pork availability ebbs and flows. When you place a pork deposit, we will reach out to you within a few business days about when you may anticipate the pork being ready. This can range from a few business days to a couple of months. We then either schedule a pick up or drop off depending on your location (we usually go as far north as the front range, and as far south as Santa Fe, depending on our schedule).
